Trusting Nature's Intelligence

Susan's focus is on supporting, inspiring and caring for you, the whole person, as we work together to restore your health and wellbeing.

How can I help you?

Do you need some help to overcome a health challenge, find motivation to look after yourself better, or are you confused by googling the conflicting information around your health issues? Are you a typical tired superwoman or mum, or an older man struggling with a modern lifestyle and the results of years of self neglect and overindulgence? Perhaps you are having difficulty coping and suffering from anxiety or persistent low mood? Or maybe you have a disease or condition,  such as an autoimmune or chronic infectious illness, that modern medicine has not been able to help you with?

I see my role as supporting you to get back on the right track, find your mojo, and reconnect to your inner wellbeing.

I am here to support those who are struggling with their health, to find hope and a reconnection to their natural vitality. I am passionate about Natural Medicine, and helping people remember their deepest connection to life. It is common in these challenging times to need to rest, deeply, to take time to just BE. And to attend to the important matters in life- such as our health and wellbeing, and what brings us joy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. What is Medical Herbalism?

Medical Herbalism refers to the integration of the empirical wisdom of centuries of traditional herbalism with a modern scientific frame of reference.

Q2. What happens in a consultation with Susan?

In the initial consultation, Susan connects with you and listens to your health story. She gathers detailed information about you, your health history, and your current symptoms. She may then prescribe an initial herbal tonic, a supplement, some diet changes, or recommend some lifestyle changes. A second appointment will be booked some weeks ahead, and in that appointment, progress and response to the initial treatments are assessed. Every body is different, and responds uniquely to treatments, and some time is generally needed for your body to respond fully to treatments given. At each subsequent follow up visit, there may be fine tuning of treatments and lifestyle suggestions made, suitable to you and your unique life circumstances..

Q3. Does the consultation cost include any herbs or other products?

The cost of herbs and other supplements are not included in the consultation prices, but these are kept as reasonable as possible. Susan has a herbal dispensary and makes individualised remedies for her clients. Sometimes Susan will recommend products you can obtain at supermarkets, pharmacies or health food stores.

Q4. What is a wholistic approach?

The medical model is a disease-focused model. It diagnoses a disease, and prescribes a pharmaceutical medicine or medical procedure which will alleviate symptoms of that disease. A wholistic approach works firstly with people, not disease names. It connects with people in the context of their whole life, and their whole being on every level, and looks for the underlying causes of symptoms. Natural Medicine is based on the premise that the body has the inherent ability to heal itself, given the right circumstances. Using the healing power of nature, and gentle natural medicines and therapeutic techniques including diet and lifestyle, the whole person is supported during the healing process.

Q6. Does Susan see people for one off consultations?

Although she realises people need to meet her first, Susan prefers to take a long term approach with clients, rather than a short term one. She supports clients long beyond the initial health conditions they came with, to maintain their health, and help them to live a more healthy lifestlye, in alignment with the natural cycles of life. After the first few consultations, appointments are recommended seasonally, and at these appointments, recommendations are made to deal with any current health conditions as well as to support constitutional weaknesses, and vulnerabilities, and help to prevent future issue. Herbal tonics, seasonal diet changes and general lifestyle recommendations are often recommended. Once you become Susan’s client, you have an ally for all your health needs, someone who understands you and your body and health issues deeply over the long term, and who cares about you.

Q7. Does Susan work with my doctor, and other health practitioners?

Yes, Susan is always willing to stay in touch with your doctor and specialists. She also may recommend other health practitioners such as chiropractors, physiotherapists, bodyworkers, counsellors, trauma specialists and others, and is happy to stay in touch with them for a wholistic team approach to your health and wellbeing.

Q8. Does Susan do any testing?

Susan will use the information you give her, any pathology tests you have, body signs such as tongue and skin condition, and sometimes iridology and other techniques for seeing what is going on in your body. She prefers to refer to your doctor for most pathology testing if at all needed, however if you prefer, or your doctor is not wiling, we can get testing done privately. She does sometimes recommend Hair Trace Mineral Analysis to test for mineral imbalances and toxic metals.
